REFRACTION (conceptual)

Refraction is a mirror polished geometric hand that stands as a monument to collective human achievement, welcoming all who surround it.

The open upright palm is a universal gesture of peace, cooperation, and collaborative effort. The individual facets that form the hand reflect the surrounding environment from countless different angles, drawing the trees, the sky, the people moving through the space, and the activity around it into the work itself.

Each reflection becomes part of the sculpture, bringing the surrounding environment and the people within it into the work itself. In this way, Refraction reflects the idea that the great institutions and vibrant spaces we create are not built by corporations alone, but are shaped and sustained by the collective efforts of the individuals within them.
